I have been thinking about a couple of Grimm Brothers fairy tales, Hansel and Gretel, and Rumpelstiltskin.
- Hansel and Gretel were two innocent children, abandoned by their parents in the woods, who were captured by a wicked, cannibalistic witch.
- In Rumpelstiltskin, a beautiful maiden was held captive and forced to work. She escaped that situation through a deal with a manipulative Rumpelstiltskin, only to face a heartbreaking situation where she had to trade her child for the magic he dealt.
There is a twist at the end of both stories. The children escape. The girl becomes Queen and outmaneuvers the men who tried to master her. Their liberation is won through patience, cooperation with others, and the use of their wits.

Transit to Watch: Moon & Venus opposite Pluto
One of the major planetary patterns this week is Venus opposite Pluto. The Moon joined Venus at the exact opposition, and it reminded me of the symbolism in these fairy tales, when forces of good, innocence, and beauty face the corrupt and powerful. There have been many world events and news stories featuring these archetypes.
Over the next several weeks, other planets will move into Leo and oppose Pluto—a repeating pattern that began with the Moon and Venus. Jupiter, the Sun, Mercury, and Mars follow from now to October. It’s just one storyline in a complex drama, but it strikes me as an important one to follow. A conflict between archetypal forces of good and evil, innocence and corruptness, truth and deceit.

WEEKLY FORECAST
June 14-20
On Sunday night, a New Moon formed at 24°03’ Gemini, joined by electrifying Uranus. Gemini Moons often bring a rise in communication and movement, so the days ahead may feel busy. Your attention might scatter as you try to multitask or make decisions while circumstances are still shifting. Keep in mind that Mercury is in its shadow period, so decisions and plans made now may need a second look in July.
On Wednesday, the Moon joined Venus in Leo. Together, they opposed Pluto in Aquarius. This is a brief aspect that lasts only a day or two. The Moon and Venus represent gentleness, connection, and what feels good and fair. Pluto represents power, control, and hidden agendas.
This pairing can evoke a familiar story: someone vulnerable caught in the grip of a more powerful person. This was the aspect that reminded me of the fairytales, and I was encouraged by how these stories tend to end, with the more vulnerable party finding a clever escape and coming out ahead.
Other themes to watch for this week include emotionally intense relationship changes, whether beginnings or endings, conflicts over values or resources, and family matters that need attention.
Your move: If you notice a power imbalance this week, look for the resourceful path rather than the confrontational one. As Mercury moves retrograde, situations are likely to shift due to emotional swings and evolving facts. Be patient, find allies, and use your wits.
June 21-27
This is a lighter week astrologically, which offers a welcome pause. The Sun enters Cancer on Sunday. Mercury is moving slowly, between 23 and 27 degrees Cancer, so progress on mental or communication-related tasks may feel slow, even as Mars keeps your energy and drive moving fast. That mismatch between pace and energy can be frustrating if you are eager to finish something that just is not ready to come together.
Late in the week, several aspects overlap: Venus in Leo trine Saturn in Aries, the Sun in Cancer square Neptune in Aries, and Mars in Taurus sextile Jupiter in Cancer.
Watch for confusion about roles or who holds authority, a wish to escape certain circumstances, and decisions about commitments, finances, or resources that feel pivotal. Tension may build through the week.
Your move: If a project feels stuck even though you are eager to move forward, this slower pace might be better spent on review and refinement than on pushing toward completion. Before making a financial or resource decision later in the week, it could help to sleep on it or talk it through with someone you trust, since clarity about roles and responsibilities may still be settling.
June 28 – July 4
This week deserves a highlight on your calendar. Several planetary aspects point to sudden changes, turnarounds, and potential challenges. It could be a dramatic week, with intensity to match the activity overhead.
Mars enters Gemini on Sunday, moving toward a conjunction with Uranus that becomes exact at 1:07 am on July 4 (Central Time). Mars-Uranus conjunctions have played a marked role in U.S. history when they occur in Gemini, shaping the story of the original revolution, the fight for independence, and the continued struggle toward becoming a more perfect union. Watch for important developments in U.S. news.
Monday brings two major shifts: Mercury stations retrograde, and the Full Moon arrives in Capricorn. Jupiter enters Leo just after midnight on Tuesday. Although the exact aspect is still a few degrees away, Jupiter begins to oppose Pluto. This aspect becomes exact on July 20, and its influence will likely be felt throughout the month.
On Wednesday, the Moon in Aquarius connects with both Jupiter and Pluto, channeling some of that building energy.
On Saturday, Mars is conjunct Uranus and sextile Neptune, followed by a trine with Pluto on Sunday. There is an explosive quality, with tension that wants release. This activates a planetary pattern known as a basket or cradle formation, setting the tone for July and beyond.
Your move: The week’s forecast calls for a dramatic display of fireworks. Choose how you want to engage. With this much momentum overhead, you may feel ready to leap into a big change. Or you may feel safer pulling back and waiting for the dust to settle. Both responses make sense.
If you are riding the wave, consider channeling your energy into a project or conversation you have been putting off, since Mars and Uranus favor bold, quick action. You may have to make some changes later, but that’s okay. You can be flexible.
If you would rather hunker down, it may help to simplify your schedule, postpone major commitments where you can, and find a place for quiet and rest, especially over the holiday weekend.
