A 12-hour drive gives you a lot of time for contemplation. Virgo was on my mind while I traveled south from central Oklahoma, through northeast Texas, and across Louisiana. I used some of the time to catch up on my favorite podcasts.

What did I listen to? Episodes from The Astrology Podcast, The Tarot Podcast, The Happiness Lab, and Money with Katie.
Virgo is personal to me, because I have three planets in this Mutable Earth sign: Mars, Jupiter and Pluto. It’s located in the 9th House of my birth chart, associated with topics like higher education, long-distance travel, philosophy and astrology! It’s fair to say my Virgo 9th House plays an outsized role in my life. After all, I’m an academic dean, an astrologer, have degrees in economics and nursing, and love to travel.

Look at the podcast playlist again. It’s pretty Virgo.

Virgo is one of three Earth signs, the others are Capricorn and Taurus. All the Earth signs have a material and practical focus. If you want to learn more, I love Deborah Houlding’s article on Virgo.
When you’re looking for a location in Lilly’s horary astrology, Earth signs indicate places on or near the ground or floor. They’re associated with the soil itself, including mud, clay and other forms of dirt. Earth signs are linked to the direction of south.

Virgo is specifically linked to storage areas, and where the work of accounting and processing takes place. In the home, that might be a study or office, closets, cabinets and pantries.
Outdoors, Virgo locations are barns and sheds, granaries and silos. Think about places where crops are processed and stored. That would include locations where grains are fermented into alcohol, like breweries and distilleries.

In the body, Virgo is associated with the digestive system—stomach, intestines, pancreas, etc. Astrologers give it influence over the immune, lymphatic and nervous systems and contemporary medical researchers agree. In recent years, gut health has been found to impact many physical conditions and mental health. Researchers refer to the gut as a second brain, with its own enteric nervous system.
If you’re still looking for new year’s resolutions, improving your gut microbiome and overall digestion might be a good choice.
Sorry, the nurse in me couldn’t resist!
XOXO,
Denise
